Bryan Dunleavy was born in Milton Keynes. After university and some teaching he emigrated to Canada where he pursued a 30-year career in education and raised his family. In 1994 he retired as a College Principal to pursue his love of painting more seriously. He returned to England in 1995.

For a few years he held studio space at The Granary in Bishops Waltham. In 1998 he and Anthea set up the Magic Flute gallery and studio in Lower Swanwick.

For many years he painted exclusively in oils but as that became less practical he has tended to do more work in watercolour, acrylic and pastel media. Now that the new studio is complete more works in oil are starting to reappear.

He is able to work in a variety of styles and media. More recently he has returned to the exploration of abstract forms and colour after an interval of 25 years.

Paintings are sold through various galleries throughout the UK.
